# Trezor Suite®: Desktop — Getting Started™ | Official Trezor®

**Your Secure Interface for Managing Crypto with Confidence™**

***

## Introduction™

Welcome to **Trezor Suite®** — the official desktop and web application for your Trezor hardware wallet™. Whether you are setting up a new Trezor device or connecting an existing one, Trezor Suite provides a secure and intuitive environment to manage, send, receive, and track your cryptocurrency portfolio.

This guide walks you through the essential steps to get started with Trezor Suite on desktop, from downloading the official application to making your first transaction safely.

***

## System Requirements™

Before installing, confirm your computer meets the minimum specifications for Trezor Suite desktop:

| Platform | Minimum Requirement |
| - | - |
| **Windows** | Windows 10 (64-bit) or newer |
| **macOS** | macOS version 12 "Monterey" or higher |
| **Linux** | Supported (AppImage format) |

**Note:** ChromeOS is not officially supported for the desktop application, though the web version may work via Google Chrome. For the web application, Chromium-based browsers (Chrome, Edge, Brave, Opera) are recommended; Firefox and Safari are not supported due to lack of WebUSB functionality.

***

## Step 1: Download from the Official Source

Navigate directly to [**https://trezor.io/trezor-suite**](https://trezor.io/trezor-suite) — never download from third-party websites, search engine advertisements, or unsolicited links. Phishing sites may impersonate Trezor to steal your funds.

Select **Download for desktop** to get the latest version for your operating system. If your browser displays a warning that the file "could harm your device," this is typically a false positive related to recent Windows certificate changes. Click the three-dot menu next to the blocked file, select **Keep**, and confirm.

***

## Step 2: Verify Your Download (Recommended)

Trezor provides cryptographic signature verification for security-conscious users. To verify your download:

1. On the Trezor Suite download page, click **More** to reveal the signing key and signature files.
2. Download the signing key (`satoshilabs-2021-signing-key.asc`) and the signature file for your installer.
3. Use GPG (or a GUI tool like GPG Suite on macOS or gpg4win/Kleopatra on Windows) to verify the signature.

For Linux users, the expected key fingerprint is:
`EB48 3B26 B078 A4AA 1B6F 425E E21B 6950 A2EC B65C`

A "Good signature" result confirms the installer is authentic and untampered.

## Step 3: Install Trezor Suite

### Windows

1. Double-click the downloaded `.exe` file.
2. If Microsoft Defender flags the application, verify the publisher is **Trezor Company s.r.o.** and click **Run anyway**.
3. Click **Install**, then **Finish**. Trezor Suite will launch automatically.

### macOS

1. Open the downloaded `.dmg` file.
2. Drag Trezor Suite to your **Applications** folder.
3. Launch from Launchpad or Spotlight. If prompted about security, allow the application to open.

### Linux

1. Mark the AppImage as executable: `chmod u+x Trezor-Suite-*.AppImage`
2. Run it directly. On some distributions (Debian, CentOS), you may need the `--no-sandbox` flag.

***

## Step 4: Connect and Set Up Your Trezor Device

1. Connect your Trezor hardware wallet to your computer using the provided USB cable.
2. Open Trezor Suite. The application will detect your device and display **"Connect & unlock your Trezor."**
3. If your device is new, Trezor Suite will guide you through:
   * **Authenticity check** — confirms your device is genuine
   * **Firmware installation** — your Trezor ships without firmware for security; Suite installs the latest version
   * **Wallet creation** — choose to create a new wallet or recover an existing one
   * **Backup** — write down the recovery seed words displayed on your Trezor device
   * **PIN setup** — secure your device with a PIN entered directly on the hardware

**Critical Security Note:** Your recovery seed (12, 20, or 24 words) is the master key to your funds. Write it down physically and store it offline. **Never** enter your seed into any computer, website, or app — only directly on your Trezor device when restoring. Trezor will never ask for your seed phrase via email, chat, or any online form.

***

## Step 5: Navigate the Dashboard

After setup, you will land on the **Dashboard**, where you can view your portfolio and manage assets.

* **Portfolio section** — displays a historical chart of your account value over time; use the filter to adjust the time range
* **Assets section** — shows a breakdown by cryptocurrency
* **Left sidebar** — lists your accounts; use the **+** button or **Enable more networks** to add more cryptocurrencies
* **Receive button** — generates an address for incoming funds
* **Buy & sell button** — access third-party providers to purchase crypto directly

**Important:** Always verify the receiving address on your Trezor device screen before sharing it. Coins and networks are not interchangeable — sending Bitcoin to a Bitcoin Cash address, or a token on the wrong network, can result in permanent loss.

***

## Step 6: Core Features

### Send and Receive

Use the **Receive** tab to generate an address, and always confirm it matches what appears on your Trezor screen. To send, use the **Send** tab, enter the recipient address and amount, then confirm the transaction on your hardware device.

### Buy, Sell, and Swap

Trezor Suite integrates with third-party providers to let you buy, sell, and swap cryptocurrencies without leaving the app. Availability varies by region.

### Staking

Stake supported assets including **Ethereum, Cardano, and Solana** directly through Trezor Suite to earn rewards while helping secure the network.

### Privacy and Security Features

Trezor Suite includes built-in protections such as:

* **Biometric authentication** (Touch ID, Face ID, Windows Hello) for quick app unlock
* **MEV protection** on Ethereum, Base, and BNB Smart Chain (enabled by default)
* **Address poisoning detection** to warn about suspicious transactions
* **Scam token filtering** to hide and sort unwanted airdrops
* **Tor integration** for enhanced network privacy

### Mobile Companion

Trezor Suite is also available on **Android** and **iOS**. The mobile app is ideal for tracking balances and generating receive addresses on the go. Full transaction signing on iOS requires a **Trezor Safe 7** (Bluetooth) — older models have limited iOS compatibility.

## Troubleshooting

| Issue | Solution |
| - | - |
| Device not detected | Try a different USB cable or port; avoid hubs |
| Windows blocks installer | Verify publisher is Trezor Company s.r.o.; click "Run anyway" |
| Web app not connecting | Use Google Chrome or another Chromium browser |
| Linux AppImage won't run | Add `--no-sandbox` flag |
